Mark Price, The New Real Fantasy Now

Glowlab is excited to announce the first solo exhibition of artist Mark Price, titled The New Real Fantasy Now. Showcasing his bold graphic style, Price’s works on paper present dark scenarios of technological chaos and deconstruction. Moving away from the figurative and into the abstract through innovative original drawings, silkscreen editions, monoprints and wall paintings, Price reveals the anti-celebrity and absent hero: the Non-Character.
The story of The New Real Fantasy Now continues Price’s exploration and critique of economic and social conditions. Infused with a rich visual aesthetic, an introspective geometric landscape is superimposed by highly stylized explosions and cryptic language. Out of the wreckage the Non-Character triumphs, striking its suffocated poses and revealing that nothing exists in the territory of The New Real Fantasy Now.
Concurrently with his Glowlab exhibition, Price will release a self-published volume entitled 20XX - The New Real Fantasy Now. The limited edition of fifty, silkscreen printed and numbered by the artist, will be a collection of writings and drawings further exploring the work presented in the exhibition.
Mark Price, a member of the Philadelphia based artist collective Space 1026, was the recipient of the Xeric Grant in 2006. He has self-produced two books completely silkscreen printed by hand. In addition to showing with Glowlab in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Chicago and Miami he has exhibited his prints at Foundation Gallery in Chicago, Giant Robot in San Francisco, Padlock Gallery in Philadelphia, and Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles. Mark has also shown his work as part of Space 1026 at Lobot in Oakland, 96 Gillespie in London, England, The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, The Magic Pony in Toronto, and The Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia. He lives and works in Philadelphia.
