The Long Now Foundation's monthly series Seminars About Long-term Thinking

Peter Diamandis presents
Long-term X-Prizes

Founder and Chairman of the X PRIZE Foundation, Peter Diamandis is dedicated to bringing about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity. In this lecture, Diamandis will discuss a new class of X PRIZEs which are larger in purse size and far more ambitious in scope. He calls these “Mega-X PRIZEs” as they tackle bigger problems over longer timeframes and use the high financial stakes to drive more aggressive advancement in scientific discoveries. Previously, he awarded The Ansari X PRIZE of $10 million to the creators of SpaceShipOne for being the first privately developed craft to take a human to space.

The Seminars About Long-term Thinking were started in 02003 to build a coherent, compelling body of ideas about long-term thinking, to help nudge civilization toward Long Now's goal of making long-term thinking automatic and common instead of difficult and rare.

Seminar hosted by Stewart Brand.
