Call For Poster Artwork: Comcast Art & Soul Weekend
Call for Poster Artwork
Comcast Art & Soul, Labor Day Weekend, Downtown Oakland
Deadline: July 15, 2008 ---extended deadline---

Pro Arts is accepting submissions for the 2008 Comcast Art & Soul limited edition screen print poster and T-Shirt Design competition. The final design will be featured at the City of Oakland’s Comcast Art & Soul, Labor Day Weekend in Downtown Oakland, August 30, 31 and September 1, 2008.

Artwork should represent the spirit of celebration in accord with the festival. Poster art need not incorporate festival name or year. Participation is open to artists of any age. Selected artist receives an artist honorarium.
Design Specifications: All artwork must be original. Designs must be submitted on one CD in two formats: one low resolution jurying jpg sized 8” x 8”, and one ready to print file (see file preparations below), sized for printing, 15” x 15”. File will be printed in 4-color process. Pro Arts will print the festival name and year on posters and t-shirts alongside the final design.
Ready-to-Print File Preparation:
All files must be formatted as 4-color process (cmyk).
• Use of Adobe Illustrator
 Outline all fonts.
 Embed or include all linked files.
 Eliminate extraneous layers and flatten artwork.
 Save file as .ai
• Use of Adobe Photoshop
 Save file as .tif (no layers) at 300 dpi at 100% size.
• If your artwork bleeds, pull bleed out .125", making final file size 15.5" x 15.5"
• Type Size and Line Weight
Type below 10 pt. is difficult to print with consistent results. For type set below 10 pt. use sans serif, bold fonts. If type is knocked out we recommend setting it at a 12 pt. minimum. Minimum line weight is 1 point; line weight below 1 point may not print properly.

Submissions: Each submission must include the official Entry Cover Sheet and Signed Release (see attached), artist resume(s) or bio(s), design description (limit one page), and submission CD. CDs must be marked with artist(s)’s name and title of work(s). Multiple submissions may be included on one CD. Incomplete proposals will not be reviewed. Please do not submit additional materials. Do not submit original artwork or master slides.

Deadline and Notification: Extended Deadline for submissions is July 15, 2008. Notification is made by email/phone by July 30, 2008.
