Job Posting: Postdoctoral and digital art fellowships 2008

Two postdoctoral positions in the digital humanities and two fellowship positions in digital art are available at HUMlab, Umea University, Sweden from August 1, 2008 (the actual start date may be later).
The postdoctoral fellowships are for one year, with a possible extension of one year. The digital art fellowships are one year positions. For the postdoc positions, applicants will be expected to have a Ph.D. in a humanities discipline and a specialty in any of these five research areas: participatory media, digital cultural heritage, digital art and architecture, electronic literature, and critical perspectives. For the digital art fellowships, applicants will be expected to have an M.F.A or the equivalent. In exceptional cases, other areas and backgrounds can be of interest as well.
About HUMlab
HUMlab is a humanities IT environment at Umea University in Sweden. The basic idea behind it is to stimulate innovative cooperation in a dynamic interdisciplinary setting. Here the humanities and the arts on one hand, and modern information and media technology on the other, interface and collaborate, both in real terms and virtually. We are interested in scholars, artists, students and entrepreneurs who have an interest in the digital – technology as a tool, study object, expressive medium or activist venue – and who would embrace the opportunity to do first-rate work in a collaborative, diverse and highly international studio space and intellectual milieu.
