Call For Proposals: PureScreen 2008/09
PureScreen, Castlefield Gallery's regular screening event, invites new submissions from artists, for our 2008-2009 series. The programme provides a platform for outstanding recent film and video work and aims to support new and emerging practitioners and curators. In addition, we distribute touring programmes to partner venues, and provide a resource for other organisations involved in contemporary moving-image practice.

We are interested in a broad range of independent approaches to form and materials, using film, video, sound, software and other new media technologies. The selected work will demonstrate inventive use of its medium, propose alternative modes of cinematic language, or offer interdisciplinary perspectives through collaboration. We aim to feature work relating to current artistic, social, scientific and political concerns. PureScreen also seeks experimental advertising, design cinema and music promos.

From the year's selection we will also compile a ‘Best Of’ DVD to profile work at festivals and events throughout international artists and filmmakers communities.

Film and video works must be produced since January 2006, on VHS-PAL or DVD preview, with master copies available as a QuickTime uncompressed file, DV-PAL, or mini-DV only. (NB: the PureScreen call is not open to fiction-oriented short film productions.)
