The Texas Independent Film Festival is proud to officially announce our call for entries, seeking short and feature length submissions in all genres of film!

Entry forms, rules, and regulations and up to the minute details will be available online through our Facebook page and at txfilmfest.com. Hosted by Texas A&M University’s Aggie SWAMP (Screenwriting, Acting, and Movie Production) Club, this festival showcases the magic of independent cinema to the Texas A&M and Bryan/College Station communities.

The Texas Film Festival was established in 1993 by A&M Film Society member Paul Alvarado-Dykstra, with a mission to “celebrate the vision and enterprise of America’s finest contemporary independent and minority filmmakers.” Since its inception the festival grew over 12 years to be the largest student-run film festival in the nation. The original festival had the privilege to showcase the talent of independent filmmakers from around the globe including Spike Lee, Oliver Stone, Tim McCanlies, Robert Rodriguez, Sean Astin, John Landis, and John Waters. Sadly, in 2005, the festival could no longer continue running due to program cuts and budgetary issues. In the summer of 2010 Texas A&M’s Aggie SWAMP (Screenwriting Acting and Movie Production) Club acted to restore the Texas Film Festival in lieu of its own event, SWAMPFest Film Festival (2006-2010). During the fall of 2012, in order to better represent and reflect its spirit, mission and patrons; the festival was re-established as the Texas Independent Film Festival.
