Pewabic Pottery, in Detroit, MI, is hosting three artist lead workshops in July. Each workshop will be held over two consecutive work days. The first workshop will be with Emily Duke, Red Star Artist Resident and a Ceramic Monthly Emerging Artist. Her workshop, From the Ground Up - July 11th & 12th, will explore the urban environment and its potential to influence the ceramic process. The next workshop in the series is with artist and Kendall College Assistant Professor Israel Davis. His workshop, Clay Slabs, The Narrative Surface and Image Transfers - July 13th & 14th, will provide instruction on how to screen print with slips and under-glazes onto clay slabs. The final workshop in the series is with Nathan Tonning, MFA from Minnesota University. His workshop is titled Re-Tooling- July 27th & 28th. He will teach participants how to identify and use everyday objects and household appliances in the ceramics studio. He will also provide instruction on how to build your own ceramic tools.
