Winners of the Giga-Hertz-Prize for Sound Art

The sound artists Ryoji Ikeda (*1966, Japan) and Carsten Nicolai (*1965, Germany) present their joint publication „cyclo.id“ at the ZKM in the context of IMATRONIC extended | Festival of Electronic Music.
The IMATRONIC Festival of the ZKM | Institute for Music and Acoustics (IMA) is the largest festival of electronic music in Germany to present and award contemporary developments in the field of electronic music. The festival takes place from Wed–Sun, November, 11th – December, 02nd

Matthias Ockert’s Polytheistic Ensemble

Multimedia Concert with Jazz, Classical and Video at the ZKM_Cube

Is it possible to bring together music from such different social backgrounds as jazz and contemporary classical music without strikingly placing a Big Band together with a symphony orchestra on stage? With his Polytheistic Ensemble, composer and guitarist Matthias Ockert unites musicians from jazz and classical, supplemented by the video artist Dagmar Vinzenz.

Chicks On Speed

IMA | lab No. 12, Performance Lecture at the ZKM_Cube

"Chicks On Speed" are a multinational art and music trio who met for the first time in the 1990s in Munich. All studying at the local art acadamy Melissa Logan, Alex Murray-Leslie und Kiki Moorse together began to organize parties and started to produce electronical pop music, inspired by punk and DIY ethics.

Aleph Guitar Quartet

Concert at the ZKM_Cube

The Aleph Guitar Quartet made up of Andrés Hernández Alba, Tillmann Reinbeck, Wolfgang Sehringer and Christian Wernicke, was founded in 1993, from which time on it has since become prominent as an ensemble that has made a decisive contribution to the creation of a contemporary repertoire for four guitars. In close collaboration with the four guitarists, numerous composers develop the tonal possibilities of this line up, augmented by way of collaboration with guest musicians.
