Lostandfoundphotos.org (a dissertation project) is collecting stories via an online voicemail about lost and found photos. Tell your story. Listen to other people's stories.

The basic lost and found events are these: Photos are lost. People mourn. They try to recover the photos; often unsuccessfully. Other people find them. Sometimes people try to return photos. Sometimes they do other things with the photos. This abbreviated version of the life of lost and found photos serves as the basis for the many tangible, emotional, and interpretive directions photographs and their viewers take after loss and discovery have occurred. Exploring lost-and-found events allows for inspection of important everyday photographic practices and their attendant meanings at a pivotal point in the history of image making. Digital technologies have brought new rules to the users of image making equipment; drawn new boundary lines between what is private and public; and created new practices in the everyday life of personal images. If you have a story about lost and found photos, visit lostandfoundphotos.org

I can set up voicemail accounts in locations outside of the U.S.
