V SALON Y COLOQUIO INTERNACIONAL DE ARTE DIGITAL
(V International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium)

The Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau, with the support of the Historiador de la Ciudad de la Habana, HIVOS, Consejo Nacional de las Artes Plasticas, Centro Cultural de Espana and Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematograficos, announces the V Salon y Coloquio Internacional de Arte Digital (V International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium) in Havana, Cuba. The purpose of the event is to encourage and support artists and scholars working with and thinking about computer-based technologies in inventive and original ways.

The annual event, which opens on June 16, 2003, exhibits work that represents the current field of digital art in Cuba and abroad, and convenes a series of meetings and discussions to encourage exchange and reflection among designers, artists, critics and scholars whose work is related to these new forms of expression.

The exhibition has two juried components: a competitive exhibition of the work of resident Cuban artists, and an international exhibition, where the work of non-Cuban residents will be shown.

INTERNATIONAL EXHIBIT

Non-resident artists are encouraged to submit work for consideration in the International Exhibit, which is held concurrently with the National Exhibit.
The V International Digital Art Exhibit and Colloquium will bring together a diverse set of artistic visions and voices, providing a forum in which to explore the emerging languages and poetics of digital art, and will include digital prints as well as non-print computed-based work.

The works chosen by the admission jury will be exhibited at the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center, halls of the Office of the Historian of the City and in other spaces in the City of Havana. They will be also available at the Cuba / Arte Digital site (www.artedigitalcuba.cult.cu).
