The University of Tulsa’s School of Art (www.utulsa.edu/art) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art with a specialization in digital photography with darkroom experience. The appointment begins August 2013.

The successful candidate will excel in teaching and have a strong exhibition record. Responsibilities include: 1) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in photography and closely related topics, as well as one foundations course per year; 2) recruiting and mentoring studio majors and M.F.A students; and 3) pursuing an appropriate fine art studio practice by exhibiting regularly.

Qualifications: M.F.A. degree with a concentration in photography or a closely related field, expertise in wet and dry lab processes, photo manipulation software, and peripheral equipment (Adobe Bridge/Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, inkjet printing, etc.), as well as an in-depth knowledge of critical theory and the history of photography, is required; experience with video capture and editing software (such as DSLR cameras and Final Cut Pro) is highly desirable.

The University is located in an urban setting with access to three major museums: the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art, and the Gilcrease Museum, which is managed by the University. The School of Art manages two gallery spaces, the Alexandre Hogue Gallery on TU’s main campus and the Henry Zarrow Center for Art & Education in downtown Tulsa. The Zarrow Center includes a gallery for exhibiting contemporary art, classrooms, and studio spaces.

Review of applications begins on October1, 2012, and continues until the position is filled.

Please send a CD or DVD including 1) letter of application providing an artist’s statement and teaching philosophy; 2) CV with contact information for three references; 3) sample course syllabus; and 4) 20 images of creative work and 20 images of student work (accompanied by a list of thumbnail images detailing relevant information) All images should be in RGB color space in .tiff or .jpg (highest quality) format. The resolution and size should be 72dpi, and at least 1500 pixels on the longest dimension. Images should be no larger than 6MB.
