Position Responsibilities

Teaching/Pedagogy 68%
- Teaching load 3-2 in courses implied by art history/visual culture discipline.
- Aid in the further development of a dynamic art history/visual culture program at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Shared supervision and editing of BFA written thesis.

Scholarship 25%
- Maintain a focused research program that follows a model of scholarly validation that follows one of these academic traditions:
- The History Model, The History/Theory Model or The Pedagogical Model. Predominant academic products in these models include:
paper presentations, journal articles, books, and reviews and commentaries.

Advising 5%
- Academic advising of students to the completion of degree, offer discipline specific career advice.
- Function as a member of graduate committees.

Extramural Service and/or University Service 2%
- Serve on department, college and university committees.

Context
The Department of Art and Design at the University of Idaho offers programs that focus on fine art as well as design. The Department is made up of 9 full-time faculty and 4-5 part-time lecturers. It enrolls approximately 250 undergraduate majors and 16-18 graduate students. Residing within the College of Art and Architecture, the Department of Art and Design offers courses that serve degree programs including BA Art, BFA Studio Art, BS Art Education, as well as MFA and MAT programs. The Department also serves 90-100 Art Minors seeking degrees in architecture and other related disciplines.

Required Minimum Qualifications

- PhD in Art History

- Teaching experience at college level. Graduate teaching, if instructor of record, considered.

- Demonstrated knowledge to cover course content in art history/visual culture courses.

- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

- Skills to manage ongoing maintenance of Art History /Visual Culture curriculum.

Desired Qualifications

- Broad background in visual culture.

- Understanding of concepts and trends in digital technology for course delivery.

- Demonstrated ability to deliver materials on Macintosh platform.
