Visiting Full-Time Faculty in the Text and Image Arts Area
The School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) is conducting a search for a visiting full-time faculty position in the Text and Image Arts area. Position will begin September 2008.
The Text and Image Arts area is a studio program that teaches graphic design skills to art students in an interdisciplinary school. The SMFA seeks a practicing artist/designer with a portfolio of internet art, including web based art, networked art, software art and new media that expands to other disciplines.
We are seeking an educator who has a strong grounding in theoretical, historical and practical aspects of the effect of technology in the arts and will be able to address the discourse of new media and web-based art. Candidates should be fluent in web design software such as Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML code, screen based typography and should be able to teach a wide range of theme based courses for beginning and advanced level students. A background in graphic design, book arts, web design, or programing is a plus.
MFA or equivalent experience are required, a multidisciplinary sensibility is an asset. The SMFA offers studio courses in diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
