Roc Jiménez de Cisneros and Stephen Sharp produce what they call “computer music for hooligans”. Their work can be understood as an aesthetic exploration of algorithmic composition and a deconstruction of rave culture under the light of various theories in recent metaphysics. Their music has been published on record labels like Entr’acte, Mego, Presto!?, fals.ch or their very own ALKU. Their work has been exhibited at numerous festivals, clubs, galleries and museums throughout the world. EVOL recordings, installations and performances display a radical and playful approach to audio synthesis, full of upward spirals, trance inducing patterns and challenging temporal structures, halfway between academia and psychedelia.

Mark Fell is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Sheffield. He works with new technologies, sound, image and interaction, bringing together interests in experimental electronic musics, contemporary art, philosophy and computer science. Mark has performed and exhibited extensively at many major international festivals and institutions. These include: Sonar (Barcelona), Mutek (Montreal), Siggraph (Los Angeles), Powerhouse (Sydney), ACMI (Melbourne), ISEA (Paris), Hong Kong National Film Archive, The Barbican (London), The Corcoran (DC), Schirn Kunsthalle (Frankfurt), Volksbuhne (Berlin), Liquid Room (Tokyo) and many others. His published sound works quickly placed him at the forefront of new digital musics with critically acclaimed releases on Mille Plateaux, Or, Line/12k, raster-noton, ALKU and others.

Lee Gamble started out as a teenager dj-ing on pirate radio and on the emerging Jungle scene, however his own approach to music has taken a more experimental direction. Exploring the outer realms of abstraction through digital synthesis/resynthesis, Lee has described his current compositional process as: “…The configuration of material (ex nihilo) via various digital synthesis methods, prompts further disfigurations and reconfigurations. What you then have left is often the detritus or debris of an idea. Phantasms of both previous and current musical, pseudo-scientific and sculptural influences are manifest as new material abstractions, created from the digital blank canvas. This abstraction allows several interests to appear in the works simultaneously…”. He is a also a founding member of the UK-based CYRK collective and has curated/co-curated several Cyrk events. He has also produced and curated three radio series for London based radio station Resonance104.4FM and he continues to DJ. Lee has released his computer compositions on the Entr’acte and PAN labels and has collaborated with composer John Wall and artists Yutaka Makino and Bryan Lewis Saunders.

Yutaka Makino (1976, Japan) lives and works in Berlin. On the basis of his research into areas such as phenomenology, experimental psychology, acoustics, social science and system theory, Makino’s works probe the processes of emergence and the mechanisms of perception. His extensive use of pseudo matters, such as sound, light and fog, provides spatial gradients in flux to experience shifting modes of perception. These pseudo matters lay out the environments of which the audience becomes an active part. He has presented his works in an international context collaborating with such institutions as DAAD Gallery (Germany), Clubtransmediale (Germany), Akademie der Künste (Germany), Kontraste (Austria), Sonic Acts XIII: The Poetics of Space (The Netherlands), STRP Festival (The Netherlands), and Japan Society (USA). He has had extended residencies at the MacDowell Colony (USA), STEIM (The Netherlands), Technical University Berlin (Germany) and ZKM (Germany).
