Please join The Compound Gallery May 4 from 6-9 p.m. to launch an energizing new show by Berkeley artist Tim Belonax, who asks: What do we do with our imperfections? Do we shun them, hide them, ignore them, or do we accept them and celebrate them?
In All Of My Mistakes Have Led Me To You, The Compound Gallery will showcase a selection of Belonax’s pieces that focus on the dynamic beauty of mistakes. After years of screen-printing posters, Tim became fascinated by the exciting errors in his executions, where unintended results proved better than planned. This collection breaks open geometric forms, revealing colorful disarray. Compositions are perfectly misaligned, inviting explosive, deteriorating, and surprising abstract results.
Born and raised in California, Tim has found creative refuge at the Compound since becoming a member in 2016. He is a senior adjunct profession at California College of the Arts, Graphic Design Program. This is his first solo show. The Compound Gallery and Interdisciplinary Studios was established in 2008 to create a hub for creativity and community engagement.
