This year the San Francisco Bay Area will be home to the largest Yuri's
Night celebration ever. At the NASA Ames Research Center over 8,000 people
will join astronauts, artists, musicians, scientists and engineers to
learn, celebrate, and pay tribute to our global space heritage. Yuri's
Night Bay Area 2008 is a one-of-a-kind local community event: a perfect
fusion of celebration and tribute, technology expo, Maker Faire, art
exhibition, and music festival; all rolled into one.

My artwork is inspired by the psychological impact that mass media- and mass production have on our society. I am especially interested to re-make those mass produced objects that seem no longer relevant to our society and transform them into new realities, changing our memories and our perceptions of them. The Intention of using mass media culture is to show how constantly we are being shaped by mass culture. It modifies out taste, our behavior and your view of things right from the beginning of our development. I use children iconography to exemplify how this formation starts. Because my work is interactive it gives the viewer an active role on the decision whether to be removed or not from a reality to which they have become accustomed. My work engages them to reflect on our relationship with material and culture.
