Join us for an evening of magical realism, history, opera, dreams, music and animation. Starting off the evening Philadelphia artist and animator Jennie Thwing will be screening "My Black Hole," a live-action stop-motion piece that presents itself as a dream within the white-box artist studio. Kara Crombie (2010 Pew Fellow) will present part of her animation series "Suffering Heroes" which addresses contemporary American problems through the vehicle of animated Civil War paper dolls. Visiting artist Alexis Gideon ends the evening with a performance of his live multi-genre musical opera that accompanies a 38 minute poetic stop-motion animation, "Floating Oceans" (screened recently at the New Museum).
